Tonight is one of the biggest nights in fashion – designers and celebrities come together in one place, decked to the nines in their finest statement-making frocks to celebrate art & fashion for a cause at the annual Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Dubbed “The Fashion Oscars,” this Gala’s red carpet is full of over-the-top pieces that merge fashion and art in the most fabulous way. Yet with all of the gorgeous garments making their way up the infamous stairs, there are always those questionable pieces that have us asking, Yay or Nay? This year it seems a coat of armor is the controversial look of choice from head to toe guilded glamour like Karolina Kurkova in Rachel Zoe and Bianca Brandolini D’Adda in Dolce & Gabbana to super-hero style like caped Lana Del Rey in Joseph Altuzarra or heavy-metal-suited Carey Mulligan in Prada. How do you feel about the overdose of Silver & Gold? Just in case you’re up for another game of Yay or Nay, check out a few more of our favorite up-in-the-air looks below and let us know what you think!
