Nicolas Ghesquiere has officially made his Louis Vuitton collection debut this morning during Paris Fashion Week. The collection seems to follow the western trend that we’ve been seeing for fall. This 70’s inspired collection is filled with high waists, vintage inspired patchworks, looped belts and edgy leather detailing. Ghesquiere stays true to the fashion house’s classic style but definitely adds his own personal takes to it. What were your thoughts on his first LV collection?
What supermarket do celebs shop at, you wonder? The Chanel Shopping Center obviously…
Karl Largerfeld has wowed us again at his Paris Fashion Week show this morning with models walking down a super market runway and celebrities also taking part in the fun. The super market shelves were ironically stocked with “Tweed Tea” as well as “coco carbone” to go along with all of the tweed, metallic and leather trends happening on the runway. Another trend spotted on the Chanel runway again – sneakers.
NYFW has come and gone – to London. Brands such as Tom Ford, Burberry Prorsum, Peter Pilotto and Sophia Webster (just a few of my faves) now get their chance to show their amazing FW’14 collections. One thing is for sure this coming fall – prints on prints on prints. While this spring’s collections are very basic solid colors with black and white dominating the scene, this fall is going to be filled with warmer colors and patterns. Burberry never fails to give us a reason to want to fast forward seasons.
What are your thoughts on next seasons trends?
NY Fashion week is in full swing here and we can’t get enough of all the new trends for next fall. Even though snow still covers the streets of NY and much of the East coast; that’s not stopping any of the fabulous shows. Among new designers showing this season: Manolo Blahnik.
We were very excited to here the “stiletto-master” would be joining the list but also surprised that it took this long! His exhibition got a lot of buzz and he seems to be thrilled to finally join NY Fashion Week. We’re pretty in-awe of his AW’14 collection. His presentation included short films by Michael Rogers; Blahnik has said in previous presentations that he likes to show people where his inspirations come from. Check out some of the pieces from the collection below. What were your thoughts on the designers Fashion Week debut?
It’s only been about 3 years since Fashion Week moved to its home in Lincoln Center and it looks like they will be moving again! The Hudson Yards are located in the garment district – close to many designer’s studios and are set to be the next home of NYFW. They’re large, spacious, have a sick view and promise to show Fashion Week-goers an even more amazing time than Lincoln Center has! We still don’t know when the first fashion week at the Hudson Yards will be since they are still to-be-built; but I think that it could be the perfect location for an event like fashion week!
What do you think about the change??
Backstage at the Louis Vuitton PFW show, Marc Jacobs announced his departure from the brand after 16 very successful years with the house. He was hired in 1997 to bring some edge to the beloved brand while still keeping it’s classically iconic styles. LVMH announced that Jacobs will be leaving to concentrate more on his namesake brand (which LVMH still owns about 96% of). Taking over for the designer will most likely be former Balenciaga creative director, Nicolas Ghesquière. Rumor has it Coach is looking for a new designer to help them (yet again) re-design their brand; and that designer might just be Marc Jacobs. Coach wants to take their brand back to it’s roots, resurrecting the classics of the 1990’s in hopes to re-build their brand equity. Coach designer Reed Krakoff’s contract expires at the end of 2013 just like that of Louis Vuitton and Jacobs. WWD reported that Coach is dreaming of stealing Jacobs away from LV. BUT this is just a rumor. Considering LVMH still owns so much of his own Marc Jacobs brand I don’t know if he would move right on to one their respected competitors. What do you think about the rumor? Should Jacobs move on to Coach? All we’re focused on is the other rumor…Ghesquiére for LV – the possibilities are endless. And most importantly, what did we think of Marc’s unarguably dramatic and incredibly provocative exit collection?
Stacy Bendet has done it again. Completely impressed with her new Alice & Olivia Spring ’14 collection, which showed yesterday during New York Fashion Week. It’s filled with color and sparkle and happiness all around. While color blocking and bright colors took over the runways last Spring, this year is going to be all about pastels, muted colors, and our favorite combo – Black & White! And contrary to popular belief, leather is here to stay through Spring…so hold on to those leather track pants and paneled tops because the warm weather will be calling them! Below are some of my favorite looks from her show:
