“The Icon and the Iconoclasts”

Karl Largerfeld for Louis Vuitton?!

Karl Lagerfeld

It’s true! The Chanel front man and Fendi designer teams up with the brand to re-create their iconic gold and brown monogram bags, trunks and luggage. Along with other designers: Cindy Sherman, Frank Gehry, Christian Louboutin, Rei Kawakubo, and Marc Newson; they will develop “the most desirable icon in the world”. Many of the details from this project are still under wraps, and it is not the first time the brand does something like this. In 1996 the brand enlisted Alaïa, Manolo Blahnik, Helmut Lang, Vivienne Westwood, Isaac Mizrahi, Romeo Gigli, and Sybilla for a similar collaboration.

We definitely cannot wait to see what comes of this rare combination of designers!

Alice & Olivia’s unBEARably Chic Coffee

Screen+Shot+2013-10-30+at+11.33.08+AMAbsolutely obsessed describes how I feel about Alice and Olivia’s two item holiday collection for Starbucks. She’s calling her collection unBEARably chic (and we can obviously see why). Consisting of her signature black and white stripes and tutu – the Double Wall Ceramic ‘Tutu’ Tumbler and ‘Bearista’ Bear (seen above) will be available at StarbucksStore.com starting Nov. 1st and in stores Nov. 12th. We’re predicting that it will sell out incredibly fast. What a great holiday gift idea for all your unBEARably chic friends!

M.I.A for….Versace?

Screen Shot 2013-10-07 at 3.59.35 PM

Just when we thought we were done with collaborations for the moment – last November, rapper M.I.A let fans see a screen shot of her desktop with the words “Bootleg Versace” written across it.  According to WWD, Donatella Versace is now confirming the collaboration between Versace and the artist.  M.I.A. will be contributing to Versace’s more affordable brand; Versus.  The collection will be centered around Versace knockoff’s, a collection knocking off the knockoffs…brilliant.   Just the kind of twist you would expect M.I.A to bring to a collab.   The collection is set to hit stores October 16th, so we won’t have to wait very long to see what this is all about.   Definitely an unexpected way to merge creative minds and we are pretty psyched to see the results.  Stay tuned…

Speaking of Collabs…

Target’s crazy-successful collaboration with Phillip Lim just happened a few weeks ago, but they already have their next designer lined up.  Peter Pilotto announced during his LFW show that he will be Target’s next designer collaboration and we are already counting the days!  The newest collection is set to hit stores this February and be all about women’s apparel, accessories and swimwear.  As well as hitting Target stores in the US and Canada, the collection will also be available internationally on Net-A-Porter.  So many collaborations I’m gonna have to make some room in my closet!
