Marc Leaves Louis…Who’s Next?

Paris Fashion Week 2013 – Louis Vuitton

Backstage at the Louis Vuitton PFW show, Marc Jacobs announced his departure from the brand after 16 very successful years with the house.  He was hired in 1997 to bring some edge to the beloved brand while still keeping it’s classically iconic styles.  LVMH announced that Jacobs will be leaving to concentrate more on his namesake brand (which LVMH still owns about 96% of).  Taking over for the designer will most likely be former Balenciaga creative director, Nicolas Ghesquière.  Rumor has it Coach is looking for a new designer to help them (yet again) re-design their brand; and that designer might just be Marc Jacobs.  Coach wants to take their brand back to it’s roots, resurrecting the classics of the 1990’s in hopes to re-build their brand equity.  Coach designer Reed Krakoff’s contract expires at the end of 2013 just like that of Louis Vuitton and Jacobs.  WWD reported that Coach is dreaming of stealing Jacobs away from LV.  BUT this is just a rumor.  Considering LVMH still owns so much of his own Marc Jacobs brand I don’t know if he would move right on to one their respected competitors.  What do you think about the rumor?  Should Jacobs move on to Coach?  All we’re focused on is the other rumor…Ghesquiére for LV – the possibilities are endless.  And most importantly, what did we think of Marc’s unarguably dramatic and incredibly provocative exit collection?

Ooh La La Look of the Week: SJP

Metallics are our weakness, especially when you’re talking black, white, gold together – hence the obvious color scheme of Cameo PR – but all that biased obsession aside…Sarah Jessica Parker definitely deserves to kick off our Ooh La La Look of the Week series in this dazzling Marc Jacobs resort number, completed of course with a show-stopping multi-metallic Fendi Baguette.  Ruling the red carpet Sunday night for the opening of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: The Musical, this MJ sequin stunner wouldn’t quite have the same effect if not for the long sleeves & dropped hem, a classy twist on loud & sparkly that just seems to be working its magic on us.  Add a modern version of the star’s favorite iconic bag and you simply can’t help but lust after this fab look.  Well done.

Totally Obsessed With…Nicole Richie at the CFDA’s

Nicole Richie has become not only an impeccable fashion designer, but over the years she has grown to become absolute perfection on red carpets around the world.  The CFDA’s may have been on Monday evening, but I still can’t get over how amazing she looked in her Marc Jacobs Fall 2013 gold halter gown.  She was an absolute vision and proved that her “Simple Life” days are far behind her.

Mullets, PJs and Fur for Marc Jacobs

The fashion God that he is, Marc Jacobs has done it again.  Despite the delivery issues that postponed his show from Monday of NYFW to Valentine’s Day, the highly anticipated collection made everyone’s heart flutter, including mine.  Only Marc can cover models in mullets and send them down the runway topless, all the while looking sexy, sleek and classy of course.

The giant suspended sun brought out the textures of the mohair sweaters, fox fur coats, and the flashy sequin ensembles.  I am not a big fan of purple yet I want that flouncy purple sequined jumper hanging in my closet, just another example of the power of Jacobs influence.  It isn’t a case of want, it is actually a necessity.

I am a lover of the pajama trend that’s happening right now.  This ensemble is one my favorites.  Beige silk button down shirt and short shorts to go from the bed to the streets.  Perfect!

Nonetheless the collection left me breathless, as it always does.  Marc Jacobs managed to produce a collection that can not only bring out the sexy inner-goddess of a woman, but also accentuate her feminine characteristics.  I am looking forward to see what he has got in store for Louis Vuiton!
