Unexpected but exciting! The Italian fashion house has named Jeremy Scott it’s new creative director. Scott is a former Moschino intern and has been running his own label out of LA for 16 years, but this is the first time he will be creative director for a big-name fashion company. He has replaced Rossella Jardini who was the creative director since Franco Moschino died in 1994. Although Moschino did not disclose the reason for Jardini’s departure they thanked her for her “enormous contribution in keep the spirit of Moschino alive.” Jeremy Scott’s designs are known for poking fun at fashion, which he says is what attracted him most about the brand – that they liked to poke fun at fashion too. So what does he plan to bring to Moschino? He told Style.com it’s all about “bringing the brand into the now, into the future. For me, it’ll be about playing with the heritage and vocabulary and bringing it into today. I feel like I can bring a younger demographic. My fan base is much younger [than Moschino’s].”
This is definitely an unexpected change for the infamous brand but we’re totally excited to see the edge he’s going to bring to it! His first collection for them will be Fall 2014 and is set to debut during Milan Fashion Week in February. Can’t Wait!!
