Fashion Week

Fashion Weeks Continue

NYFW has come and gone – to London. Brands such as Tom Ford, Burberry Prorsum, Peter Pilotto and Sophia Webster (just a few of my faves) now get their chance to show their amazing FW’14 collections. One thing is for sure this coming fall – prints on prints on prints. While this spring’s collections are very basic solid colors with black and white dominating the scene, this fall is going to be filled with warmer colors and patterns. Burberry never fails to give us a reason to want to fast forward seasons.

Ghesquiere Officially at Vuitton

1383607060949.cachedIt’s official! After months of speculation and stressing about what will happen to Louis Vuitton after the end of Marc Jacobs’ tenure, Nicolas Ghesquiere has officially taken his position as Artistic Director of the iconic fashion house. Despite his bitter departure from Balenciaga, his time there was said to be incredibly successful for the brand (obviously, hes amazing). Rumor has it he’s bringing his former Balenciaga assistant Natacha Ramsay over to Louis Vuitton with him. Huge personal fans of the cutting-edge designer, we cannot wait to see what he’s going to do for Louis Vuitton. This could mean big changes for the almost 160 year old brand as they continue to find new ways to maintain their classic style while growing with the ever-changing contemporary fashion trends. Officially counting the days to the Spring14 Paris Fashion Week debut!

Jeremy Scott’s new gig at Moschino

JeremiahScottforMoschino1
Unexpected but exciting! The Italian fashion house has named Jeremy Scott it’s new creative director. Scott is a former Moschino intern and has been running his own label out of LA for 16 years, but this is the first time he will be creative director for a big-name fashion company. He has replaced Rossella Jardini who was the creative director since Franco Moschino died in 1994. Although Moschino did not disclose the reason for Jardini’s departure they thanked her for her “enormous contribution in keep the spirit of Moschino alive.” Jeremy Scott’s designs are known for poking fun at fashion, which he says is what attracted him most about the brand – that they liked to poke fun at fashion too. So what does he plan to bring to Moschino? He told Style.com it’s all about “bringing the brand into the now, into the future. For me, it’ll be about playing with the heritage and vocabulary and bringing it into today. I feel like I can bring a younger demographic. My fan base is much younger [than Moschino’s].”

This is definitely an unexpected change for the infamous brand but we’re totally excited to see the edge he’s going to bring to it! His first collection for them will be Fall 2014 and is set to debut during Milan Fashion Week in February. Can’t Wait!!

NY Fashion Week Moves to Hudson Yards!

elle-hudson-yards-nyfw-emx6Cj-de

It’s only been about 3 years since Fashion Week moved to its home in Lincoln Center and it looks like they will be moving again! The Hudson Yards are located in the garment district – close to many designer’s studios and are set to be the next home of NYFW. They’re large, spacious, have a sick view and promise to show Fashion Week-goers an even more amazing time than Lincoln Center has! We still don’t know when the first fashion week at the  Hudson Yards  will be since they are still to-be-built; but I think that it could be the perfect location for an event like fashion week!

What do you think about the change??

M.I.A for….Versace?

Screen Shot 2013-10-07 at 3.59.35 PM

Just when we thought we were done with collaborations for the moment – last November, rapper M.I.A let fans see a screen shot of her desktop with the words “Bootleg Versace” written across it.  According to WWD, Donatella Versace is now confirming the collaboration between Versace and the artist.  M.I.A. will be contributing to Versace’s more affordable brand; Versus.  The collection will be centered around Versace knockoff’s, a collection knocking off the knockoffs…brilliant.   Just the kind of twist you would expect M.I.A to bring to a collab.   The collection is set to hit stores October 16th, so we won’t have to wait very long to see what this is all about.   Definitely an unexpected way to merge creative minds and we are pretty psyched to see the results.  Stay tuned…

Speaking of Collabs…

Target’s crazy-successful collaboration with Phillip Lim just happened a few weeks ago, but they already have their next designer lined up.  Peter Pilotto announced during his LFW show that he will be Target’s next designer collaboration and we are already counting the days!  The newest collection is set to hit stores this February and be all about women’s apparel, accessories and swimwear.  As well as hitting Target stores in the US and Canada, the collection will also be available internationally on Net-A-Porter.  So many collaborations I’m gonna have to make some room in my closet!
